Local Day Adventures

We Are Ocean Local Days are a series of community-based gatherings created for cancer fighters and survivors to reconnect with the ocean, movement, and one another. Hosted by Newport Aquatic Center’s We Are Ocean program, these days are about showing up, slowing down, and finding strength in shared experiences—on and off the water.

Each Local Day offers an approachable way to get outside and be active, whether that’s paddling, yoga, sailing, or simply spending time together by the bay. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to join a supportive community that understands the journey and celebrates every step forward.

We Are Ocean Local Days are for cancer fighters and survivors of all ages seeking connection, encouragement, and a reminder that they are not alone. These days are less about performance and more about presence, joy, and the healing power of being on the water—together.

Newport Aquatic Center is a nonprofit organization, and We Are Ocean is a program made possible through the generosity of donors and WAO alumni who choose to pay it forward. Their support allows us to continue offering these meaningful experiences at little to no cost to participants.
