🌊 About the Series
Now in its 4th year, the V1 Series was created to give paddlers their own dedicated space to race — and to get everyone on the same craft. When we first started, we honestly didn’t know if it would last this long… but here we are, growing year after year!
Each season, the vibe stays the same: great competition, good people, and an even better reason to train hard and show up. Whether you’re chasing points, testing yourself in new conditions, or just want to spend a weekend surrounded by paddlers who get it — this series is for you.
This year, we’re especially excited to take things on the road — with Race #2 heading to Northern California for a fresh course and new energy, thanks to our friends at O Kalani Outrigger. 🌁✨
📅 2026 Race Schedule
Race #1 – January 3, 2026
Medium Distance + Short Course Option
Perfect for newer V1 paddlers and juniors! The short course will launch before the long course and have its own awards (not included in series scoring).
Race #2 – February 7, 2026
Powered by O Kalani Outrigger, this race brings the V1 Series north to Alameda Bay for an all-new course and a dose of NorCal energy! Paddlers will take on a 15-mile long-distance challenge designed to test endurance, efficiency, and connection across the bay’s dynamic conditions.
Course: Currently TBD — final course details will be announced soon! Expect a fun, challenging route that showcases the best of Alameda’s waterways.
Come for the race, stay for the community — O Kalani always brings the good vibes, great racing, and that signature paddler hospitality. 🌊💪
Race #3 – March 7, 2026
The grand finale of the V1 Series — a true test of endurance, grit, and ocean skill. This 21-mile marathon is designed for experienced V1 paddlers ready to take on the full distance and challenge themselves against both the elements and the competition.
We’re aiming for a Long Beach to Newport course, but final details will be determined closer to race day based on wind and ocean conditions. Expect a demanding open-water route that rewards preparation, focus, and resilience.
This race is not intended for novice paddlers — it’s built to challenge and celebrate those who bring dedication, skill, and heart to the water. 🏁
At the finish, we’ll celebrate the season with series awards, the V1 Heavyweight Belts, and a well-earned post-race lunch. Everyone’s invited to stick around, relax, and toast to another incredible year of V1 racing. 🌊🥇
⚡ Series Scoring
This is a points-based series — racers earn points at each event based on finish within their division (if four or more participants). Series champions will be crowned at the final race, where awards will be presented.
Points per race:
1st – 25 pts
2nd – 18 pts
3rd – 15 pts
4th – 12 pts
5th – 10 pts
6th – 8 pts
7th – 6 pts
8th – 4 pts
9th – 2 pts
10th – 1 pt
If there’s a tie in total points, total race times will determine the winner.
Places below 10th will be ranked by overall time.
Seasonal rankings will be updated on a Google Doc shared with racers throughout the series.
