Help Our Athletes Compete on the World Stage

NAC provides a world-class training environment and is committed to guiding young athletes as they strive to represent the USA in sprint kayaking at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Our dedicated athletes in the LA28 Kayak Program at Newport Aquatic Center have earned a crucial opportunity this year: to compete at the U23 World Championship in Portugal (July 23rd-27th) and the Senior World Championship in Milan (August 20th-24th), with a vital training camp in between. Head coach Krisztina Zur, a two time Olympic champion, knows firsthand the dedication required to reach the highest levels. These competitions are a major step towards their Olympic dreams.

The Challenge

These talented young athletes now face a significant financial challenge to make this dream a reality. The costs of international travel, accommodation, coaching support, and equipment transport are substantial.

How You Can Make a Difference

By contributing, you’re not just helping them get to these championships; you’re investing in the future of U.S. Olympic kayaking, empowering these young athletes to pursue their dreams, and helping them represent their community and country internationally.

The Impact of Your Support

Your generous donation will directly support these athletes by covering essential expenses such as travel, accommodation (including the training camp), coaching logistics, and equipment transportation. Every dollar brings them closer to gaining invaluable experience on the world stage and progressing towards the 2028 Olympics.

Support Our Olympic Dream

The LA28 Kayak Program at the Newport Aquatic Center has two core and equally important goals:

1. Qualifying for the LA28 Olympic Games: Our primary focus is to identify, train, and support talented athletes who have the potential to represent the United States at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. We aim to provide them with world-class coaching, access to top-tier equipment, and the resources necessary to compete at the highest international levels. The recent success of our athletes qualifying for the U23 and Senior World Championships is a testament to the dedication and potential within this program.

2. We also aim to expand sprint kayaking in the U.S. by engaging more young athletes, ensuring strong coaching, and building a supportive community at NAC. A wider participation will drive greater success and bring the positive impact of kayaking to more people. This growth will create a stronger foundation for future Olympic contenders and introduce the unique benefits of paddling to a wider audience in our community.

By focusing on both elite athlete development and grassroots growth, the LA28 Kayak Program strives to create a lasting legacy for sprint kayaking in the U.S., inspired by the supportive environment and world-class opportunities found right here at the Newport Aquatic Center.

Meet Coach Krisztina Fazekas Zur

“Kayaking has always played a big role in my life, filled with both big dreams and big challenges, like the disappointment of missing out on three Olympic Games. However, a major turning point came when my husband, Rami Zur, also an Olympic kayaker, and I moved to Newport Beach. Being immersed in the vibrant paddling community here and having access to the incredible facilities at the Newport Aquatic Center (NAC) shifted everything. With Rami’s expert coaching and the unwavering support around me, I rediscovered my passion and finally achieved my Olympic dream. Now it’s time for me to give back through the LA28 Kayak Program at NAC with the help of the opportunities the club and the community offer to support motivated athletes reach their Olympic goals.”
