Fifteen NAC Members made the drive up to Santa Barbara this past weekend to take on the “Return to the Pier” winter series race. It was quintessential California winter day — the cold morning giving way to a perfect and sunny 65 degrees. Thirteen of the Fifteen members made it to the podium making the trip well worth it!

Shout out to Margo for deciding the day was too nice to just race Short Couse, so she hopped back on the water and did the Long Course as well! Another shout out to Bruce and Kelly for bringing the small boat trailer up, allowing more paddlers to make it to the race!

It was gnarly for sure, glad to hear I wasn’t the only one who thought so!
The way back was insanely fun but the harbor mouth was not. Overall a great experience though. Billy wasn’t able to convince me to sell my V1 for something with a rudder, so I guess that’s good.
