Last Saturday, NAC’s Outrigger team finished the first half of their season down San Diego at the Iron Champs. It was a successful day on the water with eight podiums, but more importantly it was a fun day for the whole club! NAC fielded 16 crews: three Novice, four Co-ed, five Women’s, and four Men’s boats.
Highlights of the day were shared breakfast burritos in the morning, the pot-luck throughout the day and the sun shining seemingly only on our patch of the beach! All three Novice crews placed in their respective divisions and participated in the Novice Dance Competition–complete with costumes, a silly dance, and a custom song memorializing their many hulis over the season. The Open Men also pulled off a rare feat of taking home 1st AND 3rd place! Many members of the team stuck around tossing race recaps and tales back and forth, had BBQ round #2, shared beverages from ice cold coolers and cheers for another Iron season done!
