The San Diego Crew Classic is one of the premier regattas on the West Coast, bringing together top crews from across the country to race on Mission Bay. With decades of history and some of the most competitive fields of the season, it’s a race where you find out exactly where you stand.
From the Junior Rowers:
“In the weeks leading up to Crew Classic, we knew we had serious speed—but the question was whether it would be enough to beat Marin. After the semifinal, we expected a close race and believed that at our best, we wouldn’t lose. In the final, we were a boat length down at the 1k.
In that moment, all eight of us decided we wouldn’t lose. We began taking seats, were even with 500 meters to go, and finished a boat length ahead. Our grit and determination—to keep pushing no matter the situation—won us the race. This experience brought us together and proved that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.”

It was a great weekend for the program down at Mission Bay! Lots of great racing, lots of wind, and TWO gold medal boats! Our Men’s JV8+, after a strong third last year, and Women’s U17 8+ both finished on top in their categories and have certainly set the tone for the entire program as we head into the second half of our season.
We want to thank all of our parents and families that showed up in support of our athletes. Every regatta is a group effort and we certainly have the best group around!
