Yesterday, we partnered with MAKAPO and officially launched Adaptive Rowing at the NAC.

This started with a conversation over a year ago, and we faced many reasons not to do it. We didn’t have the equipment, we didn’t have the infrastructure, we didn’t know who would show up. Rather than letting the reasons not to stop us, we decided to proceed with what we do have.

The success of yesterday is because of the “Culture of Yes” that Billy has allowed to exist, and RJ De Rama being willing to figure things out as we go. We are grateful for the knowledge base and professional expertise that MAKAPO leadership has in this space, and I personally feel energized to keep going. Coach Luke was amazing in getting the day going and leading the charge on the Barge, and our athlete volunteers were great in assisting throughout the event.

We are planning out the next OHANA day and look forward to continuing to build this program out.
