This past Sunday, NAC Junior Rowing competed in the 58th LBRA Annual Christmas Regatta. The December classic is held on the same course that will host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Rowing Regatta! The Christmas Regatta is a fun filled day of 850-meter sprint races where rowers dressed up in fun Christmas apparel like Santa Hats and Reindeer costumes.
NAC Teams did well, with over 70 entries for our whole club! With highlights including the Girls winning the V8, u17, 4+, and 4x, and the boys winning the 4x and u17 8+, and getting second in the V8 and 4+. We also brought home the Sean L. Walter Holiday Spirit Cup for the second year in a row! Coach Weston said, “The programs depth was shown as we had five varsity 8s and 3 u17s entered on each side. This race serves as a really good opportunity for all of our Novice rowers to practice getting into a start line and dealing with the nerves of a sprint style race!”
Coach Maddie said, “We saw many competitive races throughout the day and watched our athletes bond over the highs and lows of race day. As we head into the second half of winter training, we are encouraged by what could be in store for this team come racing season!
All the Coaches also shouted out their appreciation for the Junior Rowing parents (especially Tina Guizdek!) who provided food and fun for everyone throughout the day!
