The early morning kicked off very cold—colder than normal—but turned into a classic California race day: sunny, flat, and warm once the sun finally showed up.
The Oceanside Becky Stuart Memorial Race offered two courses this year. The short course came in just under 5.5 miles, while the long course pushed closer to 8.5 miles (basically a long-course sprint for some paddlers). Offshore winds added an extra challenge to both routes, keeping everyone honest out there.
With more than 22 NAC paddlers entered across divisions, we were stoked to have such a big showing in Oceanside. And yes—everyone earned their post-race baked potato.

Finn Cameron racing V1
And NAC’s highlight paddler, Finn Cameron, snagged 1st place in the 13U V1 Short Course division.
“Great race—really had to push until the end, and it was good vibes all over. Even after the race it was great vibes. It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it!”
— Finn
A solid way to close out the last race of 2025. Next stop: bringing all the NAC “great vibes” up to Santa Barbara next month!
