Last Saturday was an October day that only Southern California could provide and a perfect day for SoCal paddlers to get off their couches and back onto the water! NAC hosted their 12th Annual Off Da Couch race in honor of Sam Couch, a long time NAC member and Coach who passed away from Cystic Fibrosis.
We hosted a record high of close to 400 paddlers across Outriggers, Olympic Sprint crafts, SUPs, and prone paddleboards. With over 100 more race entrants than last year as well! Race courses included a 9-mile long course, 6-mile Board course, 4-mile short course, and a mini Grom race!
The highlight of the day was definitely the 20 NAC Avalon Ocean Club Juniors & Groms who came over to race from Catalina Island! Seeing all the kids in their bright gold hats in the OC6s and OC1s was so great! We had the TK Burger truck come down and whip up delicious burgers and fries – the perfect post-race meal!
