Hal Rosoff Classic

2/14/2026

The longest-standing small craft race in Newport Harbor—and one of the first of its kind in Southern California—the Hal Rosoff Classic has been a staple on the winter race calendar for decades.

Hosted by the Newport Aquatic Center, this iconic event brings together paddlers of all ages and crafts to honor Hal Rosoff’s legacy and passion for water sports. With courses through the protected waters of Newport Harbor, it’s a true test of endurance, strategy, and harbor navigation.

From outrigger canoes to surfskis, kayaks, and SUPs, the race draws a wide range of athletes—from first-timers to seasoned competitors—marking it as a foundational event in the growth of the SoCal paddling scene.

For many, the Hal Rosoff Classic isn’t just a race—it’s a tradition.

While you’re out on the wash deck for the Annual Hal Rosoff Classic, whether you’re cheering on your friends or competing yourself, we want to keep the good vibes strong in honor of Hal!

A big mahalo to the Rosoff Family and Village Green Foods for year after year, donating the great Chili we have for lunch!
